Brian Atwood Leaving Bally?
(NEW YORK) Mere days after showing his Spring 2010 collection for Bally in Milan, Brian Atwood, the label’s creative director, is said by multiple sources to be exiting the company. "Brian was informed of the decision a few days ago," said a person close to the negotiations. Atwood is expected to step down by the end of 2009, with a new creative director to be named shortly thereafter. A Bally spokesperson dismissed the exit talk: "Brian is still the Creative Director for Bally. He is currently working on the next collection and, no, he is not leaving.” Founded in 1851 by Carl Franz Bally and his brother Fritz, the Swiss brand was purchased in April 2008 by the Labelux Group. According to one source, Atwood will continue to produce his eponymous line.
