(NEW YORK) Attention, Milan! Come late September, Versace will take up a second slot of your Fashion Week time as it launches the first women’s ready-to-wear collection of the recently-restored Versus brand. Launched in 1989 as Donatella Versace’s project (while brother Gianni headed Versace) and shuttered in 2005, the company enlisted the help of Christopher Kane to relaunch the brand with the presentation of a capsule accessories collection in February. In September, however, the brand will be a major fashion week player with what a Versace spokeswoman calls a “dynamic presentation” of both accessories and ready-to-wear, produced by Gruppo Facchini. Versace has major plans for the lower-priced line, with an estimated 20 Versus store slated to open worldwide by the end of 2010.
