Walk This Way
(NEW YORK) Beverly Hills’ Walk of Style is home to honors for Valentino, Tom Ford, the Versaces, and Giorgio Armani, who took the inaugural plaque in 2003. But come October, two non-fashion designer notables will have their names emblazoned on Rodeo Drive: Cartier and Princess Grace of Monaco. The iconic French jewelry company is the first jeweler to take a place on the Walk, just as the princess formerly known as Grace Kelly is the first celebrity.
Cartier and Kelly, the fourteenth and fifteenth recipients of Walk of Style plaques, aren’t the only non-ready-to-wear designers to be honored, however. Photographers Herb Ritts and Mario Testino received their plaques in 2005, and costume designers Edith Head, James Acheson, and Milena Canonero took their places in 2006. This year’s ceremony will take place on October 22; Prince Albert II of Monaco will be present on his mother’s behalf.
