Valentino Comes Home
(NEW YORK) Assuming you haven’t been invited to Anna Wintour’s The September Issue screening party, come September you’ll be really itching for your fashion documentary fix. Valentino to the rescue! Just three days before the anticipated Vogue film hits theaters, Valentino: The Last Emperor will hit video stores; on September 8, the Matt Tyrnauer-directed film that follows the couture icon will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray. Already seen it? There’s still plenty of glamour to be had on the disc. The Perfect Life is a bonus material feature that follows Michael Kelly, Valentino’s Irish majordomo as he frantically prepares a party at the designer’s French estate, goes along with Valentino and his entourage on a ski vacation in Gstaad, and takes a sneak peek into Valentino’s Fifth Avenue abode as he prepared for the Costume Institute Gala. The Last Collection shows in full Valentino’s final, farewell haute couture show, attended by everyone from Miuccia Prada to Claudia Schiffer. Finally, A Red Dress goes into the workroom to take a closer look at Valentino’s haute couture seamstresses in action.
Valentino: The Last Emperor opened March 18 after an extensive press tour with Valentino and his right-hand man, Giancarlo Giammetti. The film grossed $21,762 in it’s opening weekend, and to date has grossed nearly $1,700,000.
