Douglas Hannant's Expansion Plans
(NEW YORK) Douglas Hannant has long been a fixture on the New York scene since he launched his eponymous collection in 1996, and now, the designer's influence is about to become literally set in stone. On August 1, Hannant will open his first retail store at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The space will be designed by Hannant's longtime friend Jeffrey Bradfield, and it will feature Hannant's collection as well as his accessories, including a jewelry collaboration with Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti that will be sold exclusively in the store and through Vivre.com. Hannant is also launching footwear for Fall 2009, and he has also developed a new hat line with designer Eric Javits.
In the meantime? Vacation is in order. "Every year, we find somewhere luxurious to go in the summer, so we're taking a castle outside of Shannon [Ireland] and having a different caterer each night. It's got to have a theme!"
