Going Once, Going Twice…
(NEW YORK) Aspiring fash-insiders, get your checkbooks ready. The RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights annual auction is on now, and the non-profit international human rights advocacy group is putting bidders on the fashion scene. André Leon Talley is participating; the Vogue editor-at-large will accompany one winner to four shows during Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week in September, and will give them the chance to go backstage and meet the designers. In addition, the winner will go for dinner or lunch with Talley to chat about the future of fashion (current bid: $6,750). Michelle Obama’s effect on the fashion world will be looked at by perhaps the one person who has benefitted most: Jason Wu. Another auction will offer two tickets to his Spring 2010 show, as well as a chance to have tea with Wu and talking about his experience dressing Obama (current bid: $525).
More chic prizes to be bid on include a one-month internship at Diane Von Furstenberg’s studio, currently going for $525, a lunch with Tim Gunn, currently going for $1,200, invitations to two shows during Mercedez Benz Fashion Week, currently going for $1,800, and two volunteer positions at Fashion Week, currently at $500. The auction is online now until May 28 at http://www.charitybuzz.com/rfk.
