A Beach Boy Shake-Up
(NEW YORK) Rosa Cha has been a newsmaker in the swim category since the brand was founded in 1988 by designer Amir Slama. The company, which operates 22 stores in Brazil and opened its first American outpost last August with a store on West Broadway, is continuing to evolve--without its founder. Slama has left the company after selling his remaining stake in the business after having sold a 75% stake to Marisol S.A. in 2006.Alexandre Herchcovitch, a fellow Brazilian designer who received Slama's endorsement, has signed on as the new creative director. Rosa Cha's Winter 2010 collection will be the first designed under Herchcovitch. Meanwhile, expect a new swim collection from Cha in the next several months.
