CFDA's Shot of Humor
(NEW YORK) The fashion industry is still recovering from the party of the year on Monday night, but already the CFDA is prepping for the next big blowout. The 2009 CFDA Awards will be hosted by comedienne Tracey Ullman, a longtime friend of CFDA prez Diane Von Furstenberg’s, who will put her filming of Showtime’s State of the Union on hold to emcee the event. Swarovski will sponsor the event for the eighth year, with Scott Pask creating the Alice Tully Hall set, complete with a podium spangled with the sparklers. But in addition to the added humor and glitz, the format of the event will be updated; instead of a seated dinner, the evening will feature a light passed supper. Some elements of the show, however, still remain a mystery: will Michelle Obama appear to accept her Board of Directors Special Tribute? And who will take the much-hyped Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Alex Wang, Thakoon, or Jason Wu? See a complete list of the 2009 nominees here.
