No Met Gala? No Problem
(NEW YORK) While one editor-in-chief spent Monday evening presiding over the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, others managed to occupy themselves just fine. Life--and chic--must go on!
ASHLEY BAKER
GLENN O'BRIEN, INTERVIEW: "I wish I could've gone but I had to stay home and watch House M.D. and 24 which is so tense now. I'm very worried about Jack Bauer and the United States and there's no way I could Tivo it and still enjoy myself at the Met."
GRAYDON CARTER, VANITY FAIR: "I went to Christie’s where one of my sons works to see the Modernist pictures they’re auctioning off this week and then had a quiet dinner with my family at the Waverly Inn."
STACY MORRISON, REDBOOK: "I tried not to get completely soaked at the Red Sox-Yankees game with two friends from college."
DAVID REMNICK, THE NEW YORKER (THROUGH A SPOKESPERSON): "He [was] doing an event at The Council on Foreign Relations, interviewing Richard Haass about his new book."
MARGARET RUSSELL, ELLE DECOR: "I loved hearing about the gala this morning but nothing could have been farther from my mind last night. Our next book, Style & Substance: The Best of ELLE DECOR, is due at the printer in less than two weeks and I was bleary-eyed at the computer writing captions past midnight. I could certainly do better at making this all seem effortless!"
JOANNA COLES, MARIE CLAIRE: "I had dinner with TV executives to talk about potential projects at Ciccone's in L.A. before a midnight run along the beach in Santa Monica, getting ready for today's Chelsea Lately taping."
LUCY DANZIGER, SELF: "My husband, James Danziger, and I hosted friends for cocktails at his art gallery, Danziger Projects, in his new beautiful space on West 24th Street. We caught up with pals we hadn’t seen for a while and enjoyed delicious guacamole and salsa as a pre-Cinco de Mayo celebration. No better way to spend an evening!"
PAMELA FIORI, TOWN & COUNTRY: "I had just returned from several days in St. Barts attending Olivia Chantecaille and Ren Grady's wedding. The only costume on my mind, apart from what I wore to the official functions, was a bathing suit and it was made of Lycra!"
