J.Crew’s Sandy New Setup
(NEW YORK) On the retail front, the summer season essentially belongs to J.Crew, which fills its catalogues and stores with enough madras and flip-flop options to outfit beaches worldwide. No wonder the brand has targeted Malibu as a location for its newest store. This month, the retailer is opening a 2,400-square-foot special resort store, J.Crew at-the-Beach, in the Malibu Lumber Yard shopping center offering J.Crew women’s (including shoes, accessories and jewelry), crewcuts, and a selection of Liya Kebede’s LemLem for crewcuts collaboration.
The store will have a distinctly different feel. Interiors were designed to reflect the sandy location, with sun-bleached floors made of reclaimed oak and brass accents that have been weathered to the salty air. Among the company’s other special services, like private shopping appointments and college student discounts, the Malibu outlet will offer a complimentary beach delivery service and a Malibu House Guest Survival Kit--a monogrammed beach bag filled with flip-flops, swimwear and another items needed for the perfect seaside stay. And should you need a limited-edition surf board, well, you know where to find it.
