(NEW YORK) Just when you thought the Indian fash-action was winding down, Vikram Chatwal gives the chic set another reason to stick around. The hotelier is throwing a blowout opening
Vikram Chatwal Hotels, a division of Hampshire Hotels & Resorts, has redefined the boutique hotel genre with a design-driven, destination-within-a-destination hotel concept known distinctively as ‘Hautel Couture.’ Bringing an avant-garde level of surrealism to the hotel industry, the opening of the first Dream Hotel in New York proved to be an instantaneous success and spawned the Dream Hotel Brand.
Opening in midtown Manhattan in November 2004, the hallmark of the Dream Hotel brand is its strategic alliances with like-minded industry leaders of food, nightlife and design. Throughout their numerous properties, Vikram Chatwal Hotels have collaborated with industry leaders including The Rockwell Group, Zeff Design, Greg Briar (Aspen, Highbar), Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato (Serafina, Geisha), Dr. Deepak Chopra, Michael Csysz (Architropolis), Handel Architects, three-star chef Geoffrey Zakarian (Town, Country), Will Regan and David Rabin (Lotus, Double Seven), and Ric Addison (Ava, Rm. Fifty5, Inc.), amongst many, many more.
Enhancing every need of its clientel, Dream Hotel recently teamed up with Alcatel-Lucent, reinventing the way guests access the world inside the hotel and beyond through bedside video phone intercoms, interactive in-room LCD displays and internet protocol television. In addition, world-renowned mind-body guru Dr. Deepak Chopra offers a much needed counterpoint to the frenetic pace of the city landscapes that Dream Hotel properties call home with the Chopra Center & Spa outposts.
Due to the immense success of the first hotel, Vikram Chatwal Hotels have expanded the Dream Hotel portfolio to include a new incarnation of the high-design lifestyle hotel – Dream Bangkok, which opened in 2006 and the upcoming Dream South Beach in Fall 2009 and Dream Downtown, which returns to the Dream brand’s hometown, opening in Manhattan’s Meat Packing district in 2010. Defined by its trademark ‘in-your-dreams,’ each Dream Hotel has a unique rhythm, character and identity. Whether in New York, Bangkok, or beyond, each property has – and will continue to have – a story and a connection to the heartbeat, culture and pure energy of the city in which they are located.
Plans for further expansion of the Dream brand to international markets include in cities across India such as Chennai, Cochin, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Jaipur and New Delhi. Fusing both Eastern and Western design elements Vikram Chatwal Hotels will again turn the expected hotel design model upside down.
Beyond the expansion of the Dream Hotel brand, Vikram Chatwal Hotels will be the first to bring a seven-star hotel experience to Manhattan with the opening of The Chatwal in the historic Lamb’s Club building in Summer 2009.
