(NEW YORK) For Selima Salaun, the world of eyewear is only the beginning. The designer and CFDA member behind Selima Optique and Bond 07 is launching another category with Hats by Selima. The collection of chapeaux will be designed primarily by Salaun's friend Virginie Promeyrat. “Selima and I have collaborated over 6 years and she’s the ideal muse--her sense of style, grace and humor, combined with a bit of funk gives me constant inspiration,” explains Promeyrat. “I want Hats by Selima to embody these qualities and most importantly, make people smile.”

The collection is launching in retail stores in late March, and it will be available in all Selima boutiques, which number 5 in New York, one in Los Angeles and one in Paris. The hats will also be sold at Lolita Jaca in St. Barths. The core collection is composed  6 styles made in a variety of materials and trimmings, all of which are designed in the Bond Street atelier using vintage and angique ribbon, trinkets and jewels. Styles include fedoras, bowlers, cloches and capelines. Each is named with a ‘B’ - Bao, Baya, Bea, Belita and so on, and each is sold with a chic hatbox intended for stylish storage. The palette was inspired by the Carribeanm, with aqua, lavender, royal, silver, and magenta appearing alongside neutrals.

Retail prices will range from $280 to $320. Hats by Selima will also feature a cocktail collection of occasion pieces, with prices available upon request. The collections bow in stores at the end of March.
