Earnest Sewn Founders Depart

(NEW YORK) Eleanor Ylvisaker, Earnest Sewn's PR director and partner, announced today that she and Scott Morrison, founder and designer, would be leaving the company. "Although these emails are never easy to write, I wanted to let you know personally that Scott Morrison, the founder and designer of Earnest Sewn, and I have decided to leave the company, the same company we founded together five years ago this March," Ylvisaker wrote. Ylvisaker met Morrison when he was working at Paper Denim and Cloth; she joined him as the PR director there before the two founded Earnest Sewn in 2004.

"Although there are a number of reasons for our departure, we remain shareholders in the company and look forward to seeing what the future may bring Earnest Sewn and all those who've helped make it what it is today," she added. "Earnest Sewn is and has always been more than just a jean company our eyes. It was a true reflection of us, the people, the ideas, the lifestyle, and the products we love. Thanks for letting us tell that story." The company, known for its lifestyle concept, Japanese/industrial/Americana aesthetic and in-store designer collaborations as much as for its well-loved, hand-crafted line of denim, has just recently opened a new, 6,000-square-foot Los Angeles flagship.
