The Presentation Must Go On
(MILAN) Two days after Just Cavalli announced that it would not show its Fall 2009 collection here during Milan's Fashion Week, the brand only moments ago announced that Mr. Cavalli himself will be on-hand at his showroom tomorrow to present the collection to selected editors and members of the press. The looks will be shown on models, and The Daily has learned that Mr. Cavalli will then give an official statement on the future of the Just Cavalli brand.
Despite Just Cavalli's recent production issues, which result from producer Itierre's recent bankrupcy filing, the brand has experienced significant retail expansion in the last several years. The brand has aggressively opened freestanding retail boutiques worldwide in such diverse locales as New York City, Dubai, Paris, New Dheli, Seoul and San Diego. In fact, a new outpost is scheduled to open in Athens in 2009. While insiders entertain the idea that Cavalli could fold this secondary, youth-focused line into his ready-to-wear empire, it seems more likely that Cavalli will simply bring the production of Just Cavalli in-house.
