(NEW YORK) Following in the Ryan McGinley-shot footsteps of Daisy Lowe, Converse and John Varvatos have announced Sarah Ruba as the new face of their “Get Chucked” ad campaign for Spring 2009. Ruba, a Next model and one half of the electro-soul band New Look, was shot by Kieron O’Connor for an irreverent, rock-influenced advertisements. Yard, the creative agency behind the campaign, collaborated with O’Connor, John Varvatos and Converse for a red, black, and white punk rock look--think flyers and music posters. “This campaign is about characters and their personalities,” said Varvatos. “Converse has always been about expressing yourself, and we have fully embraced that ideal here. Our latest ‘Get Chucked’ series goes to the heart of both brands. We’re inspired by art, music and collaboration, and this campaign directly reflects the idealism of the ‘downtown’ loft mood, be it Manhattan, London or Tokyo.”
