Martin Margiela - Paris Fall 2007
(NEW YORK) In the season of the shoulder, trust Martin Margiela to show shoulder-issima. The power shoulder met minimalism, a linebacker silhouette first brought to life on most unassuming, youthful jerseys, football-player pointy on top and mini on the bottom. Sticking to black and white with splashes of watermelon pink and lime green, the structure soon intensified, at once softened and reinforced by bolero puffers, leather batwing blazers, and shag-rug chubby fur throws atop sleek leather pants. But though the shape undoubtedly veered toward the avant, it didn't register as quite as outlandish as it might have—perhaps because the trend is still relatively new to the runways.|page|-
