(NEW YORK) There's been no shortage of silhouette-shifting on the runways this season, but Lanvin's aerated shoulder took the cake, combining both historical innovation (it was neither '40s nor '80s) and wearability (the tapered shape achieved volume sans padding--a boon for non-linebacker enthusiasts everywhere). Alber Elbaz kept details focused, often choosing just one--a bow-bibbed blouse, a frill-spined frock--to give his starkly feminine sleevess sheaths and tunics a bit of Parisian punch.
