Givenchy - Paris Fall 2007
(NEW YORK) Taking his cue from a 1920s Japanese marine jacket, Riccardo Tisci brought navy out full force for fall. Oversized gold buttons and pyramid studs dotted peacoats, richly pleated pullovers with strong shoulders and puffed sleeves, and even a midnight blue chubby with scalloped, wave-like lines. Unlike many of his compatriots, the designer showed volume below the waist as well, with high-waisted elephant bells providing a swishy, maritime swagger. A few pintucked confections in white and icing pink seemed conspicuous in the sea of structured darkness, but lovely in their own right.|page|-
