Celine - Paris Spring 2010
(PARIS) For a French luxury brand, it's not terribly cost-effective maintain a separate design studio in London. Clearly, Celine has been banking on star designer Phoebe Philo. But her first runway collection lacked the girlishness and utterly new take on dressing that she presented for resort. This was a lean, mean take on the classic French house, whose most recent bold-faced designer was none other than Michael Kors. Second-skin nude jersey tops and dresses provided maximum energy--who doesn't want to look great naked?--although they might cause a different effect in the fitting room. But winning leather minis in black and forest and flowing lapis dresses were the winning basics that will give Phibo's new Celine some legs on the sales floor.
