Paul Smith - London Spring 2010
(LONDON)The understated setting of Claridge's and the Black Eyed Peas' raucous tune "Boom Boom Pow" don't necessarily go hand-in-hand, but both definitely worked with the energy from Paul Smith's S/S 2010 collection of brightly coloured tailored suits and African-inspired dresses. The opening model emerged in an outfit taken from Smith's invitation: a pink suit with red bowler hat. The genius mini-ties tucked underneath tweeds and shorts-suits offered his signature does of humor, especially when paired with brightly-coloured oxford. Inspired by the style of dress of Congolese men, Smith then sents lots of printed, asymmetrical dresses down the runway, keeping the feel optimistic. The kickiest touch? Blue-green lipstick.
