Taylor Jacobson’s Next Move
(NEW YORK) Rachel Zoe may have reportedly blacklisted her former assistant even from her own hair salon when she left, but no matter--Taylor Jacobson has plans to break out on her own. The now-solo stylist has joined denim brand Kasil, where she will collaborate with the company on styles launching for Fall 2010. “I started in January,” Jacobson told The Daily, “when they were still finishing off fall--so there was already pre-existing stuff. But I tweaked it, gave my opinions on everything from hardware to taking things in and letting things out.” The result? The Minx, a new ultra-skinny style, that will come in four washes.
“I’m pretty familiar with bodies of all different types,” the former Rachel Zoe Project star said. “I know what’s most flattering if you have short legs, long legs, if you’re bigger in the hips, if you have a butt. I combined that knowledge with the design side.” Jacobson worked side by side with Kasil designer David Lim on her first foray into design--and admitted that she no longer speaks to her former boss, Rachel Zoe. “I’m very happy where I am right now,” she said. “There are definitely other things on the horizon with Kasil--we’re developing more of a line for spring, with more separates. I’m sticking with them!”
For now, Jacobson is still styling both editorial and celebrity, but says that design is definitely something she plans to pursue. “I want to do clothes, I don’t want to do fashion,” she said. “I want to make clothes for everyday life, which is why jeans are so great. Everyone can wear them, they fit into everyone’s lifestyle, they’re always chic and cool.”
