Right On Target
(NEW YORK) It doesn’t matter who you were last night---chances are, you weren't getting a room at The Standard. Mega-retailer Target booked 155 of the hotel's rooms for the Kaleidoscope Fashion Spectacular, an over-the-top light show highlighting their latest collections with Mossimo, Merona, and Converse One Star.
Before the madness began, chicsters packed into The Standard's Biergarten for sipping champagne and eating crostini. Mary Louise Parker and Penn Badgley hung out on the benches and picnic tables, while fashion types like Nina Garcia, Prabal Gurung, Kim Hastreiter and Emma Snowdon-Jones raved about the exciting presentation. Dressed in a appropriately bright red dress, Snowdon-Jones spoke fondly of the best thing she ever picked up from the store: "a hot boy in aisle seven a few years ago."
At 9:00 p.m. sharp, everyone was ushered outside, handed a pair of red binoculars, and a serious soundtrack of booming tribal music began, drowning out a chanting crowd of protesters outside on the Meatpacking District streets. The facade lit up in an impressive choreographed light show, and the oft-jaded crowd cheered every time the occasional red bullseye marking the building. No doubt about it, Target is still everyone’s favorite: when the last model walked down the runway, the awestruck crowd burst into applause.
