(NEW YORK) “Ok, this is not easy,” joked Olympic champ Dara Torres minutes before the start of the Heart Truth collection at Bryant Park. “Heidi Klum is standing in the corner, and I’m just envisioning myself tripping like Carrie in Sex and the City and Heidi just stepping over me.” Torres and Klum were, of course, just a few of the celebs who agreed to participate in the annual Red Dress Collection show to raise awareness for heart disease. And once Torres took her turn on the runway, she decided to take off the shoes altogether to prevent embarrassing pitfalls.

Those who eased their way down the runway included Jordin Sparks, Kristin Chenoweth, Kimora Lee Simmons, and Estelle. “I feel like a princess going to a Valentine’s Day prom,” laughed Estelle.  But it was Joan Collins who earned the most rousing ovation. “It was very nice of them,” she offered afterwards. “But quite frankly, I did my best, and I did have some modeling experience.”

This year, national security was no longer an issue at the show since Laura Bush moved out of the White House and skipped the festivities. Instead, the big concern was getting many of the L.A.-based actresses to the city. “I skipped the storm, and I arrived to sunshine and perfect postcard moments,” said Felicity Huffman. Raven Symone had her own strong opinion about New York weather. “I hate the snow!” she quipped. “There…I said it. I’m sitting in my hotel room and avoiding going outside at all costs!”
