First Cut Is The Chicest
(NEW YORK) Ringing in the new, improved, and quite expansive iteration of New York's The Cut with a rooftop soiree wasn't a roof-raising situation. Thankfully so, considering it was a pre-NYFW affair, for which a wide swath of design talent popped by. See: Donna Karan, Gilles Mendel, Michael Bastian, Tommy Hilfiger, Isaac Mizrahi, Kenneth Cole, Yigal Azrouel, Billy Reid, Thakoon Panichgul, Chris Benz, Brunello Cucinelli, and Tory Burch. Whew! New York EIC Adam Moss, publisher Larry Burstein, and what seemed to be the entire staff of The Cut. Other minglers included Lindsay Ellingson, Cat Marnell, Lynn Yaeger, Stephanie LaCava, Nigel Barker, and Mary Alice Stephenson.
Amid the boldfaced folks, clusters of editors and PR types sipped wine, with the adventurous of spice threshold and hangover susceptibility gave the “Hot Lips" mezcal and jalapeño cocktail a try. Noshes included crab salad draped on massive lettuce leaves (too messy for some!) and plentiful trays of halved radishes, butter-greased sprinkled with sea salt. Some partygoers discretely chucked the radish stems into the rooftop’s landscaped parameters, in the absence of proper recepticles. Resourceful much? Despite not walking this season, Coco Rocha showed face for occasion, game to discuss that Times piece about her, life up in the 'burbs, and paling around with Zac Posen, among other topics.
With dinner on the mind and before spying those buttery radishes, your Daily grilled Moss on his culinary prowess. Conclusion: zilch. "I’m hardly in the kitchen. Ever!" Moss confessed. As for his top edibles? "I can make eggs. Scrambled, with a little bit of cheese and butter. I can also boil water and make coffee, so I can make breakfast, basically—morning, noon, and night." Counts for something, doesn't it?
Before cutting out for the eve, anyone worth their Instagram likes hit up a digital photobooth of sorts, tucked into into a rather lavish looking indoor nook of the rooftop. Say fromage!
