Natalia’s Diamond Hearts
(NEW YORK) Lingerie today, diamonds tomorrow. After designing and presenting her line of lingerie for Etam during Paris couture week, Natalia Vodianova has jumped back in to the design world—this time, tackling a diamond creation for De Beers. The fine jewelry brand is the lead sponsor for The Love Ball, an event hosted by the supermodel and Harper's Bazaar UK editor Lucy Yeomans, taking place in London on February 23. The event will benefit Vodianova’s charity, The Naked Heart Foundation, which provides safe and inspiring play areas in Russian cities--although The Love Ball will pledge a percentage of funds raised on the night towards three play-parks in the UK, in London, Liverpool, and Glasgow. Jeff Koons, Francesco Vezzoli, Pavel Pepperstein, Gosha Ostretsov, Dasha Forsey, Anselm Reyle, Jake and Dinos Chapman, and Vinogradov and Dubossarsky have all created unique pieces for the auction, but the pièce de resistance? A one-of-a-kind De Beers diamond jewelry piece designed by Vodianova, estimated to be worth £250,000 (click Gallery for multiple views).
“The Magic Moment Necklace was inspired by that precious instant when two people meet and immediately connect,” said Vodianova of the necklace, which includes a detachable part so that it can be worn two different ways. “Two stunning De Beers diamond hearts fit perfectly together becoming one – symbolic of a great love. I was reminded of the famous love poem by Pushkin, and also of the first playground we opened when I saw the children’s happiness and excitement.” The necklace, which will be custom-fit to the measurements of the winning bidder, features a 1.10 carat pink heart-shaped diamond, a 3.06 carat F VS1 heart-shaped diamond, and white, pink and yellow diamonds totally 5.40 carats.
