(NEW YORK) "We have a great group of people here tonight. I like to call them the rich people," quipped auctioneer Jamie Niven to a crowd of 400-plus dinner guests at the Four Seasons hotel for the 2012 Society of Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Fall gala. The bi-annual soiree, co-hosted this season by Joanna Baker de Neufville, Emilia Fanjul Pfeifler, Hayley Bloomingdale, and Cynthia Smith along with Max Mara’s Maria Giulia Maramotti as an honorary chairman, raised funds for the hospital's Pediatric Family Housing Endowment, which offers up lodging for traveling families receiving treatment. (FYI: $25,000 can house five families for five months!)

The black-tie fete kicked off with a jam-packed cocktail hour, and after much coaxing, turned into a chatty, seated supper. On the dinner front: filet of lamb with new potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms. Bridget Moynahan was in attendance. Ditto for Charlotte Ronson, Rebecca Minkoff, Veronica Swanson Beard, Fabiola Beracasa, Dani Stahl, and Lauren Remington Platt and Nina Freudenberger who both dined at the honorary Max Mara table.

"Now, we're not offering up interesting trips to Rome," Niven continued. "Or ghastly trips to the Bahamas that you don't take." No matter, cheris. Attendees dug deep, including Bryan Boy (with an apropos Mickey Mouse headband) who pledged $10K, raising a total of $540,000 before tutti traipsed into an adjoining room for a champs-infused dance fest.
