Mr. Freeze!
(PARIS) "I didn't know Karl knew how erect icebergs,” laughed Poppy Delevigne after the fantastically over-the-top and chilly Chanel show. It was all about subzero temperatures, fake fur, and a handbag global warming. “Actually, I’d like to say it was more about global cooling,” Lagerfeld said to all those listening backstage. Whatever it was, the house mesmerized the front row and about eleven rows above it, as well. “This show was an astounding amount of work,” said Mario Testino. “You can just open up your mouth wide and enjoy the magic. But I’m still not sure if I’m up to traveling to Antarctica!”
Testino’s seatmate, Alexa Chung, said she wouldn’t mind taking a trip to coldest continent on Earth. “As long as I get my hands of one of those furs,” she quipped. “I don’t care that they’re faux; that’s how I actually prefer them!” Vanessa Paradis (and a new face of Chanel's Coco Cocoon handbags) proved just how famous she is here in France by attracting more cameras than even Karl himself. It took her nine bodyguards, several handlers, and thirty-seven minutes just to complete all her interviews and leave her seat. “I truly felt like I was in this surreal dream,” she told us after the show. “You just can’t fake this magical Chanel mystique. You have to be here to never forget.”
Some of the other notables who departed with plenty of pictures and memories included Vanessa Traina, Terry Richardson, and Lindsay Lohan, who sported the identical gloves to Karl. “I’ve been obsessed over these ever since Karl first gave them to me,” said the actress. “And this has been the first time in Paris that I got to go to shows that I wanted to go to. But it doesn’t get bigger than Chanel Ice Capades. This is the fashion ultimate!”
