(NEW YORK) The latest YA fantasy series poised for silver screen domination—aka The Hunger Games, if you’ve been living under a rock—brought out a frenzy of stars and Katniss lovers for a screening hosted by The Cinema Society and Calvin Klein Collection at the SVA Theater last night. Jennifer Lawrence was all smiles in a gorgeous green Calvin Klein Collection frock, sandwiched between cutie co-stars Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson for many a photo opp, both lads looking dapper in Calvin as well.

The secret screening didn’t really stay under wraps, resulting in mayhem on 23rd Street via a blinding flutter of photog’s flashes and throngs of fans pining for a glimpse of the Games starlets. Braving the crowds? The chic masses, including Seth Meyers, Debra Winger,  Stanley Tucci, director Gary Ross, Steven Soderbergh, Spike Lee, Bridget Moynahan, Patti Smith, Matthew Modine, Gayle King, Gina Gershon, Alan Cumming, Courtney Love, Josh Henderson, Piper Perabo, Cheyenne Jackson, Scott Adsit, Abigail Breslin, Hilary Rhoda, Rob Thomas, and Charlotte Ronson.

As for the movie? It certainly does not disappoint! The costumes, the sets, the cinematography, the stellar cast…your Daily could go on for ages! It’s an adventure ride that will have you gripping your seat and clutching your neighbor, all while you ogle Jennifer Lawrence, contemplate our society’s addiction to reality TV, and unashamedly shed a few tears. Katniss Everdeen is a new hero worth obsessing over.

Everyone pined for a piece of the hot young cast; the lovely Isabelle Fuhrman, donning a fabulous little Valentino number, took a moment to chat about her character, Clove, and those killer fight scenes.  Regarding one particularly vicious bout in the flick: “It was the hardest scene for me to shoot, but that was also my favorite scene,” Fuhrman explained. “I did about a week of prep for it, and on the day of there was lots of mental preparation. It’s a big scene for my character! You get to know who she is and I really wanted to do a good job and do Clove justice. So I had to be really bad.”

And what does this charming starlet hunger for? “French fries and chocolate shakes! As long as they’re crispy on the outside and nice in the middle.” Luckily for Fuhrman, crispy frites and other petite delights were in abundance at the Top of the Standard, where a fashionable and celeb studded crowd gather to fete the film with Grey Goose Cherry Noir libations. Lovebirds Penn Badgley and Zoe Kravitz danced in a corner, while your Daily chatted with a very charismatic Cuba Gooding Jr.

Akin to the film’s endless action, Mother Nature delivered her own dose of drame: The room paused in silence when a giant dark cloud of fog slowly rolled in across Hudson, lending a doomsday vibe and prompting many a guest to whip out their phone for a shot, with some (we’re looking at you, Hemsworth and Hutcherson!) plastered at the floor-to-ceiling windows in awe. The apocalyptic fog soon dissipated and the party raged on. How befitting!
