(NEW YORK) And as any world-weary Upper East Sider knows all too well, the retail scene east of Madison (and north of 80th) tends to be oriented towards running shoes and children's stores. Good thing Elle introduced a slew of AmEx wielders to Edit, a boutique quietly wedged in a micro-neighborhood on Lexington Avenue best known for Sfoglia and the 92Y. Last night, both Robbie Myers and Carol Smith attended the cocktail party honoring Jason Wu, which was hosted by two additional Elle editors Joann Pailey and Kate Davidson Hudson.
“No, I didn’t make it to Paris for sales this season—I was in Washington!” laughed Wu. C’mon—what’s a few days at le Meurice compared with a bear hug from Michelle Obama? “We shared a very intimate moment together, so it was so strange that we’d never met. She’s just so cool. Let’s just say it was a major highlight.”
Edit’s Valerie Feigen and Alissa Emerson showed ladies like Lauren Goodman, Sang A Im-Propp, and Poppy de Villeneuve around the racks of Joseph, Rag & Bone, and Derek Lam as waiters passed glasses of Moet culled from magnums emblazoned with “Elle Shops Edit” in Swarovski crystals. Robert Burke, meanwhile, has been up to his usual globe-trotting, darting from Milan to Asia to Paris and finally, back to New York. “I guess it has been a lot of travel,” he said. “But it feels like I've spent the last three weeks at Bar Hemingway!”
