Galas Galore! New Yorkers for Children Kicks Off the Sesason

(NEW YORK) What officially ends the runway season in New York? The onslaught of Fall galas, of course! As always, the season kicked off on Tuesday night with New Yorkers for Children's annual Fall Gala, which brought the fashion and financial sets to Cipriani 42nd Street for a night of fund-raising and photographs.
This year's honorees? Estée Lauder's John Demsey, who arrived with friends Alina Cho and Annelise Peterson (along with colleagues like William and Aerin Lauder), and New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck, who was presented with the inaugural Business Leadership award.

Gala co-chairs Oscar de la Renta, Vanessa and Henry Cornell, Lise and Michael Evans, Kevin and Erika Liles, Susan and Tony Gilroy, Dayssi and Paul Kanavos,  and Scott and Candice Posner brought the chicsters in droves. Dani Stahl sported a floor-length gold glittery number, inviting one guest to remark that she was dressed like a life-sized Oscar statue. (It was dazzling, dear!) Lindsay Ellington sported a lavender Sophie Theallet confection that, if memory serves, was on a recent runway, while Hilary Rhoda went for a cobaly blue chiffon style that was one of the most brilliant colors she's worn in months.

After a live auction by Sotheby's Jamie Niven, the dance floor was cleared in time for a special musical performance by Marc Cohn, which was uniformly enjoyed before guests were coaxed to their feet by a raucous DJ set. The first late night—in black tie—of many to come, n'est-ce pas?
