(NEW YORK) Erin Fetherston is making news again, thanks to Liz Claiborne Inc.'s Juicy Couture. The brand has announced that it has signed Fetherston as a guest designer and creative consultant, beginning in May 2010 and lasting through Holiday 2011. Several limited-edition pieces will bow for Holiday 2010, including a reinterpretation of Juicy Couture's track suit, which celebrates its tenth anniversary next year.

It's a smart move for Fetherston. Her eponymous collection, which earned plenty of buzz in its salad days thanks to film collaborations with Kirsten Dunst and Ellen von Unwerth, among others, has been eclipsed in recent seasons by talented upstarts such as Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, and most recently, Joseph Altuzurra. And while her frilly, feminine frocks may still resonate with a younger set---Fetherston was the 9th designer to create a Go! International collection for Target in 2007---her designer price point does not. (The Bianca blazer is fetching $1,295 on According to, the brand is carried in 25 retailers, but in recent seasons, several of those have opted to no longer carry the merchandise, including Barneys New York's Madison Avenue flagship.

Fetherston grew up in the Bay Area and studied fashion at Parsons' Paris outpost. She launched her eponymous collection during the January 2005 couture shows before moving her collections to New York, where she has shown as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in recent seasons.
