(NEW YORK) While the Elle world was shaken this morning with the announcement of Carol Smith’s departure from Hachette Filipacchi Media after 8 years at the company, where was editor in chief Robbie Myers? Safe from the bedlam back at the office, a calm Myers enjoyed a slice of crepe cake backstage with The Daily at the Martha Stewart Show. Less than an hour before Smith’s exit from Elle was declared, Myers joined Stewart for a fashion-themed show, featuring looks from Prabal Gurung, Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra, Jason Wu and Derek Lam.

“I have to ask what you’re wearing,” Myers inquired of friend Stewart. “Oh it’s Lanvin,” the DIY maven smiled. “It’s kind of baggy, but that’s the style, I suppose. It does fit so well, and at Lanvin, they know me.” She paused and added, "I’m just kidding, they don’t know me at all there!” Alber, call Martha! Pretty frocks and springy jackets sailed down the daffodil-lined runway, and the morning’s theme was “up and coming” designers--although we would say Lam is quite established, non? Myers explained to The Daily post-taping, “In our universe they may seem like old news, but I think in terms of reaching a broader audience, these are five designers that perhaps not everyone has heard of. They are very important, and I think that these are the names that are going to continue to grow.”

While Myers skipped out on the on-screen crepe cake making and indulged backstage, she admitted, “I want to be Martha.” Does the editrix have a hidden passion for entertaining? “Oh you’re going to make me laugh!” she answered. “Well, I do have a backyard. We use the barbeque pit in the summertime, but no, it’s not my strong suit.”
