CK in L.A.
(LOS ANGELES) There's a first time for everything, and on Wednesday evening, chic Angelenos poured onto Melrose Avenue to welcome an inaugural Calvin Klein Collection event with open arms.
Surrounded by throngs of adoring fans including Milla Jovovich, Kate Bosworth, Penelope Cruz, Ginnifer Goodwin, Joe Zee, Jessica Paster, Ali Larter, Molly Sims, Arianne Phillips, Lady Victoria Hervey, China Chow, Kellan Lutz, Lisa Love, Shiva Rose, andJordana Brewster, creative directors Francisco Costaand Italo Zucchelli toasted Tinseltown and the future of the brand. "L.A. has such a fresh energy that brings this art collaboration to life. It just felt right for us to come out here now and hopefully there will be plenty more opportunities for us to come out again soon!" quipped a very cheerful Costa, surveying the impressive art installations on display--unique works commissioned by the Los Angeles Nomadic Division in celebration of L.A. Arts Month and Art Los Angeles Contemporary.
"I couldn't miss this party, are you kidding me? I've had a long working relationship with Francisco, and I absolutely adore him...and the clothes!" shared Jovovich. "God, it's hard to remember my first piece of Calvin, but I'm pretty sure it was a really simple tank top dress from a long time ago. You get that one dress and you're set!"
Sharing her sentiment, Bosworth recalled the first Calvin Klein dress she ever wore: "It was red...and sheer...and risque! I wore it to the Vanity Fair Oscar party, and it was extremely memorable," she said. "I've had a love affair with the brand for a long time, but that was my first 'go' with them!"
Modeling an elegant body-skimming floor-length Calvin Klein gown in a fresh shade of apricot, Melissa George turned heads in the middle of the party and glowed with delight. "I had a fitting at the New York showroom and I was in and out in about five minutes flat. I saw this dress and thought it was just genius!" the actress gushed, giving a tiny twirl to showcase the subtle batwing sleeves and bold draping in the back.
Escaping from the crowds on the first floor, Nicky Hiltonand Bijou Phillips meandered to the rooftop to fully appreciate the event. "This party is so Calvin! I went to the bar to order a drink, and there's absolutely nothing there. It's stark white and bare, and I"m like, 'Do you guys have drinks?!' ...They do, they're just totally hidden to keep everything looking clean. It's very Calvin Klein-esque!" explained Hilton with a laugh.
