CFDA Celebrates Liz Claiborne Scholarship Winner
(NEW YORK) On Wednesday night, guests were warmly welcomed inside DvF's studio to celebrate Swedish designer Gohar Rajabzadeh, the first winner of the CFDA's Liz Claiborne Fashion Scholarship. Gohar, a senior at the Miami International University of Art & Design, received rave reviews from the crowd, including Diane von Furstenberg, Art Ortenberg, Elie Tahari, Erin Fetherston, and Cathy Horyn. Ortenberg, looking snazzy in a black suit and red socks, toasted the lucky winner while DVF wove gracefully between friends and press playing the dutiful hostess in a chic pair of over-the-knee black boots. "Because I'm from Sweden, I use a lot of inspiration from the nature, the weather," said the guest of honor. "I love to play with texture and to get inspired by the actual fabrics. I just want to design for the everyday girl." Sounds like she'll fit right in with the Claiborne crowd. Rajabzadeh will put the $25,000 scholarship towards a master's degree.
