Just a Touch of Star Equality
Anna Wintour, Francisco Costa, Julianne Moore and Italo Zucchelli came out to celebrate! Billy Farrell Agency View Gallery
(NEW YORK) After a little victory comes a celebration, non? Before gay marriage became legal in the state of New York last June, dozens of prominent New Yorkers including Anna Wintour, Julianne Moore, Sean Avery and Uma Thurman made viral video messages lending their support. Last night, Calvin Klein Collection held a cocktail party at the brand's Madison Avenue store to celebrate the "New Yorkers For Equality" campaign's success and get right back to business and launch "Americans For Marriage Equality." Might as well go all the way…Spearheaded by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the campaign is key to raising support for same sex marriage across the country. The evening's impressive host committee included Neil Patrick Harris and David Burka, Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld, Ronald Perelman, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch, Olivia Chantecaille, Yvonne Force Villareal, Cristina Cuomo, Aby Rosen, Jared Kushner, Jay McInerney, and Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli. The HRC's Brian Ellner made a speech giving props to Julianne Moore, who was the first major star on board to make a video and once she was in, the phone started ringing off the hook with volunteers. He also credited Avery for being the first professional athlete in New York to make a video and take some heat for it, "but now he can't walk down the streets in Chelsea. And we (also) needed the most powerful New Yorkers for this, so, of course we asked Anna Wintour."
Guests lending their support included Hamish Bowles, Poppy de Villeneuve, Robert DeNiro and Grace Hightower, Karen Elson, Lisa Marie Fernandez, Renée Fleming, Marjorie Gubelmann, Zani Gugelmann, Justine and Jeff Koons, Courtney Love, Hanneli Mustaparta, Christine Quinn, Lauren Remington Platt, Hal Rubenstein, Marina Rust, Andrew Saffir and Daniel Benedict, Nora Zehetner, and Carlos Souza, who also got a look at the store's recently unveiled "Black Beacon" 60-foot-long installation by British artist Mr. Rackowe, who was also in the house.
Look out for the new videos for the campaign with Julian Bond, John Leguizamo and Mo'Nique, coming soon to a YouTube near you. EDDIE ROCHE
