Art Basel Bash Report!
Partially-clothed party people?! Mara Hoffman mods at Sunset LoungeBilly Farrell Agency View Gallery
(MIAMI) Art Basel is well underway, but there are still plenty of prime parties on the docket, so get ready to hop around to these haute happenings. Whether your tastes veer towards the tres tasteful (Fendi, anyone?) to the always avant garde (Visionaire and the DSquared boys, perhaps) to some louche frolicking (oh, hello, Playboy at the Dream!), there’s a shindig for everyone moseying through art-inundated Miami for the cultural cornucopia, now in its tenth year.
FRIDAY:
GET NAILED! Superstar talon artist (and alum of the New Museum of Contemporary Art and Deitch Projects) Carlos Rolon, aka D-Zine, will be shellacking on manis at The Standard Spa. Are your cuticles couture-worthy?
ALL IN THE DETAILS! Stick around The Standard Spa for a cocktail soiree hosted by Exhibition A, Details mag and artist Richard Phillips host cocktails to benefit The Whitney Museum of American Art Youth Insights Program, accompanied by the grooves of DJ Venus X.
CAVE HITS THE CASA: From 8-11 p.m., Fendi CASA is hosting a bash in its showroom, featuring “soundsuits” by artist Nick Cave. (Nope, not the musician, darlings!)
SUPPER WITH DSQUARED: A chic set will be dining at the VMAN dinner, held at The Webster and hosted by designers Dean and Dan Caten. Once din is done, guests will be meandering over to the Visionaire shindig.
BADA-BING FOR YOUR EARS: As part of celeb shutterbug Seth Browarnik's Art of Night exhibit, get ready for an eve of poolside performances by Theophilus London and Young the Giant at the Shelborne pool, presented by Bing.
SATURDAY:
MAC ATTACK! Chicsters will be dining with Guinness at the Soho Beach House. That would be Daphne Guinness, not (necessarily) the stout! The occasion? Darling Daphne's upcoming line of wonderfully mad makeup for MAC.
BYO(Bunny ears): Come one, come scantily clad, come all to Playboy's annual "Soiree D’art” bash, bringing some salaciousness to the Dream Hotel South Beach from 9 p.m. 'til midnight tonight. As for apres? Up to you, party people!
ALL WEEKEND:
LE BARON FOR LE WEEKEND: Paris and Tokyo are a tad far, and wasn't the whole point to get the heck out of NYC for the weekend? Still, you'll be drawn by that inimitable allure of carousing at Le Baron while at Art Basel, thanks to a pop-up nightclub situated in the Delano Hotel's Florida Room 'til Sunday. Also hitting Miami for a haute second: Le Baron's André Saraiva brings his former Paris Paris club to the Shelbourne. If you haven't checked out the latest, and briefest, forays by evening hour impresario Saraiva, factor them into your packed agenda...
RAISE THE ROOF: Sure, you've had ample antics in Nur Khan's Electric Room at the Dream Downtown since its September opening during NYFW. Now imagine that same experience, alfresco, and featuring multiple performances by the likes of David Katz, Mia Moretti, and Lovecat. Voila! You're at the Electric Roof, a pop-up version of the raucous Room.
