A Spring Break
(NEW YORK) Has it really been that long since the Upper East Side has seen a party? Akris' cocktail event for New Yorkers for Children brought out so many socialistas that the very concept of a store party was shaken to its core. Wall-to-wall dresses (and the occasional suit) mixed and mingled Bungalow-style alongside the racks of luxury goods as NYFC supporters greeted one another like long-lost besties. It might as well be spring!
Or Spring Break, rather. Allison Aston is heading to the Dominican Republic en famille; the Miniters are heading to Colorado for a bit of ski action. Lydia Fenet will remain au bureau (for now). Alina Cho, a proud Pisces, is celebrating her 18th (ish) birthday this week---and her Sonia Rykiel-clad mother and father accompanied her to the event. Mega-model Tiiu Kuik, a native of Estonia, is officially back on the social circuit; she caught up with fellow lovely Michelle Buswell. Rachel Roy mugged for Joe avec Moises de la Renta, while New Yorkers for Children maven Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos toasted the upcoming gala (April 8, people!) with Nicholas Scoppetta.
Akris' beloved designer Albert Kreimler won't arrive in New York until today-ish, but his right-hand PR woman Emilie Rubinfeld is safely back aux Etats after the brand's well-reviewed showing at the Palais du Tokyo in Paris. There are plenty of goods to be worn, and clearly, New York is thirsting for a reason to get gussied up. But with so many NYFC-bound ladies--to say nothing of committee members--will there be enough good gowns to go around? We'll be watching...
