(LOS ANGELES) An intimate gathering of stylish tastemakers and luxury connoisseurs filled the Cartier boutique on Rodeo Drive Wednesday night to toast Cartier’s 100th anniversary in America. Guests including Usher, Diane Keaton, Shoreh Aghdashloo, Larissa Sabadash, Booth Moore, George Kotsiopoulos, Glynis Costin, David Hockney and George Blodwell were drawn to the Cartier…100 Years of Passion and Free Spirit in America exhibition, which officially debuted in New York and boasts more than 100 unique collector's items, many of which were on loan from Cartier’s most celebrated clients including Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Sir Elton John and more.

“I actually met with Elizabeth Taylor this afternoon to receive some of her pieces for the exhibit, and that was truly exciting for me," said Frederic de Narp, president and CEO of Cartier North America. "A lot of important people have been integral to supporting the brand over the years and were involved with this celebration, so it’s really a defining moment for us tonight. We have been in America, on and off the red carpet, for 100 years and I’m looking forward to the next 100 years!”

Upstairs, attendees swarmed the display cases to admire the spectacular pieces of Cartier history. “I’m seriously in love with this necklace that Mike Todd gave to Elizabeth Taylor. It’s just fabulous!” Keaton enthused, motioning to the screen projecting stills from classic movies. “But namely, I want all of those big, heavy watches on the first floor. I’m kind of a masculine person, you know? So I want every one of the men’s watches…for me!”

The event honored Bruce Weber’s new book Cartier, I Love You while benefitting ServiceNation, a coalition of 190 nonprofit organizations that seeks to expand opportunities for Americans to serve at every life-stage and make service a core element of our culture.

“Honestly, I can’t think of a more timeless brand and a better place to window shop!” quipped Usher. “I own at least 10 pieces of Cartier and my favorite is my all-gold Pasha [watch]; but the one I take the most pride in is the newest ‘Love’ bracelet. I have an armful of Cartier bracelets, including the Trinity bracelet, that I wear everyday, and I just tell myself that I’m collecting a brand that is elegant and timeless and remarkable.”
