(NEW YORK) It’s not every day that a fashion brand unveils an enormous neon logo that illuminates the New York skyline. And last night’s unveiling of the Burberry sign on top of their Americas headquarters was not part of an elaborate Mario Testino-directed ad campaign. It was grand, blue and very real. “Simply amazing,” concluded a visibly excited Christopher Bailey. “I never imagined that I could one day affect the New York skyline. I came here for the first time when I was nineteen or twenty and I still feel that shock and awe every time I look at the skyscrapers!”

Last night, the congenial Brit invited his friends to join him on top of Palace Hotel to witness the official unveiling of the logo and enjoy the a concert by One Night Only and a DJ set by Alexa Chung. “I was on my way back from Los Angeles, but Chris called me and asked me to come out tonight,” said Orlando Bloom. “And we get a concert and an observation deck ticket at the same time!” The actor joined Claire Danes, Hugh Dancy, Helena Christensen, Carla Gugino, and Rose McGowan during the set just as the chilly rain poured over the party. “I was worried about the drizzle before, but now I love it,” added Bailey. “It's all very English.”

Other guests like Jamie Burke, Hilary Rhoda, Justin Guinta, Glenn O’Brien, Linda Wells, Kate Lanphear and Terence Koh navigated the bash drying, thanks to giant Burberry umbrellas. Lorenzo Martone and Molly Sims enjoyed Brit canapés like smoked salmon and shepherd’s pie. Blake Lively came on the late side, touring the roof of the hotel (her fictional home on Gossip Girl) for the first time. Lily Donaldson, for one, didn't even know of a certain Serena van der Woodsen. “I don't watch Gossip Girl,” she confided. “But you can’t blame me. I don't even own a TV at the moment!”
