Cannes Ultimate Sightings Report!

(CANNES) While there may have been no major fashion parties going on yesterday in the South of France, there was certainly no shortage of major celeb sightings. Of course, the whole village of Antibes will go into frenzy tonight thanks to the AmFar gala. But two days prior, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie invaded the tiny town by going to a dinner at an Italian place called Michelangelo. They ordered truffled pasta, mushroom focaccia, and ravioli to tune up for next night’s big Inglourious Basterds premiere. They arrived at about 7:22 p.m., virtually shutting down the Croisette. Jolie joined Pitt right before the lights went down and Paris Hilton arrived to the theatre only ten minutes after the movie started. Victoria Silvstedt left in the dark twenty minutes after the film began and escaped right back to her suite in the Carlton.

Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc has been the busiest destination by far all week long, and Sharon Stone and Kenneth Cole were just the latest to arrive yesterday to join familiar New York faces like Andrew Saffir and Daniel BenedictThe Daily's spotted Robert Pattison in the lobby there on few occasions, and the actor most certainly wins the paparazzi obsession of the week award. He’s currently shooting a sequel to Twilight in Italy and told us that he had “four days of maddening vacation.” Carine Roitfeld and Patrick Demarchelier, meanwhile were each other’s dates to the French-themed Wild Grass premiere.

Martinez offered us a first look at Alex de Betak, who just arrived yesterday. “It feels so weird to actually be here with no event for me to be in charge of,” he smiled. “But I’ll take it!” The producer extraordinaire is attending the AmFar gala and Dior dinner with packs of A-listers like Marion Cotillard (who actually went home after her first stint at the festival and will come back for the final party jaunt).  We’ve spotted George Cortina at the Admiral bar at the hotel; he’s in town to shoot Edita Vilkeviciute for a big editorial. Vincent Cassel walked by the grounds, too, after doing a big Canal Plus interview across the street. Dean and Dan Caten left the hotel at about 10 yesterday to hit the big parties. “We’ve finally recovered from our own craziness last night!” they smiled.

And finally, even with all the wondrous boats and yachts at the Croisette, pier one is always unmistakable. Yes, Valentino is in town--he’s not ready to relinquish his Emperor status anytime soon.
