Donna’s Earth Week Kick-off

Comments | | Print

(NEW YORK) Donna Karan's Urban Zen Center at the Stephan Weiss Studio is a gathering place for many noble causes, so what better space to kick off Earth Week? Carbon conservationist Dorjee Sun will be honored Monday night at the 18th Annual African Rainforest Conservancy (ARC) Artists for the African Rainforest Benefit. Alongside live musical performances, expect a Sotheby’s auction of work by the likes of William Abranowicz, Arthur Elgort, Anders Overgaard, Lyle Owerko, Mirella Ricciardi, Norman Jean Roy, and Spencer Tunick. A screening of the Hugh Jackman-narrated film on global warming, The Burning Season, Sun will be awarded the 2008 New Species Awards (an award previously received by Harrison Ford and James Gandolfini). Gandolfini himself is expected in attendance, along with Karan, Stephanie March, Matt Dillon, eco-activist Gloria Flora, film producer Cathy Henkel, and Peter Tunney.
