(NEW YORK) “We're staying the course,” said Bottega Veneta’s Tomas Maier at Bergdorf Goodman on Tuesday night, as the designer air-kissed and greeted his good friends and chic followers at the fête thrown in his honor. Canapés, cocktails, and too many Bottega dresses to count crowded into the home section of the department store’s seventh floor to celebrate the luxurious brand.

“We are doing a product that is a timeless product, that’s an investment,” said Maier of the company’s strategy in fighting the recession after warmly greeting his hosts, Linda Fargo and Jim Gold. Graydon Carter and Glenda Bailey made appearances to show their love for the designer, but the most visible support came from the packs of Maier-dressed chicsters like Julianne Moore, Mamie Gummer, mannequins Chanel Iman and Arlenis Sosa, and Rosario Dawson and Martha Stewart, who skipped cocktails in favor of the private dinner at La Grenouille après.

Maier flew in to the city just days ago for the event, which brought out pack of loyal Bottega fans; a sign that even in these times, luxury lives on.
