(NEW YORK) Even in the most flush social circles, tales of fiscal woe abound. And although some are cutting back on charity committments, well, certain orgs are fighting back by throwing bigger and better bashes than ever. Which brings us to New Yorkers for Children's annual Fool's Fete, dubbed "New Year's in April."

Come April 15, the ballroom at the Mandarin Oriental will be overrun with philanthropists attending the black tie soiree and dinner helmed by honorary chair Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos and event chairs Allison Aston, Marisa Brown, Joy Bryant, Lydia Fenet, Rory Hermelee, Julie Macklowe, Susan Shin, Vanessa Weiner von Bismarck and Shirin von Wulffen. This year's lead sponsor is The Halycon Company, while Pink Tartan is serving as the fashion sponsor. (Bally, Burberry, Dior Beauty, Frederick Fekkai, Hautelook.com, Hugo Boss, and Christine and Stephen Schwartzman are all sponsoring tables.)

And, of course, the vice-chairs--Robert Buckley, Jennifer Creel, Tommy and Dee Hilfiger, John Legend, Angela Lindvall, Margherita Missoni, Andrew Saffir and Daniel Benedict, Coco Rocha, Annelise Peterson, Zac Posen, Alexandra Lind Rose--are bound to draw the crowds. Unbelievably, the above-mentioned names amount to only half of those listed on the invitation--approximately 82 are listed even excluding those listed as "Patrons" and "Friends." And while fashion houses are bound to dress many bold-faced names, rumor has it that some charitably-minded revellers will refrain from calling in frocks in favor of supporting ailing retailer friends.
