Passage to Lakme
(NEW YORK) Indian-inspired gowns by the likes of YSL, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Zac Posen, Roberto Cavalli, Isaac Mizrahi, Donna Karan, Ungaro, Matthew Williamson, Naeem Khan, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Valetin Yudashkin, Anna Sui, Badgley Mischka, Nanette Lepore, Diane von Furstenberg will walk to the runway together in Mumbai next weekend. The catalyst for this colorful occasion? None other than Naomi Campbell, who’s teaming up with hotelier Vikram Chatwal to host ‘Mai Mumbai,’ a Fashion For Relief benefit to raise funds and awareness for Citizens For Justice and Peace, an organization aiding the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
“I am honoured to be working with IMG Fashion on Fashion For Relief’s ‘Mai Mumbai,’” said Campbell. “I love India and have always felt very welcome when visiting the country. When the terrorist attacks happened last year my heart went out to the people of Mumbai.” In addition to the supermodel, international fashion figures and plenty of Bollywood stars will be on hand for the fête. The Daily hears that PMC’s Billy Farrell will be flying out for the occasion, so expect many a famous face to come out for the cause…
