Dior's Pinhead Models
(PARIS) The Dior show at the Jardin des Tuileries was a little bit taxing for the models but great for everyone else. First for the challenging part: the mannequins were required to color their eyebrows blond (to our knowledge only Sasha Pivovarova already boasted such color) and secure over 200 pins in their heads. Some struggled and cried, some called their families and agents to complain, but most took it in stride even though this beauty decision delayed every show on the schedule on Friday.
But, of course, their struggles seemed to be worth it for guests like Patrick Demarchelier, Mario Testino, Milla Jovovich, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and John Galliano’s longtime friend and eternal muse, Charlize Theron who stole the show front row. “It’s always nice to support someone you really love,” she said after finally catching a break from the flashbulbs. “I get to take this mini Parisian holiday and try to figure out what’s going on in John’s head at the moment. Dior has always been nice to allow me to keep the dresses that I’ve worn like the Oscar one, and I’ve been tremendously lucky and spoiled in that way.”
Delphine Arnault felt fortunate too knowing every look on runway would be at her disposal. “I loved all the colors and the shapes,” she raved. “I truly want to wear everything and soon!” Marisa Berenson kept up the niceties. “I could never get sick of Dior,” she proclaimed. “John is so inventive and he has this appreciation for art and culture. He’s always so curious and he knows how to adopt history and delight us with his obsessions.” Eva Green meanwhile was just elated to show off her ever elaborate show garb. “This is my second season in the row here so I kind of know what I’m doing,” she ensured. “I’m in all Dior and today I feel like I’m from a different era in this black. Now, someone just needs to take an elegant portrait of me!”
