All That Glitters
(LOS ANGELES) The Oscars may still be a few days away, but Tinseltown is already abuzz with excitement. On Wednesday night, fashion and entertainment tastemakers including Melissa George, Angie Harmon, Kate Walsh, Vivaca A. Fox, Nonny Tochterman, Perrey Reeves, Liberty Ross, Lynn Collins, Arielle Kebbel, Kate Sumner, Amanda Brooks, Casey Johnson and George Blodwell gathered at the rooftop of The Thompson Beverly Hills Hotel for an intimate poolside cocktail party hosted by Nadja Swarovski.
“Oh, the view up here is amazing…we really don’t have this in London!” gushed Swarovski, taking in the picturesque evening and outdoor ambiance as guests crowded onto the rooftop. They were there to enjoy an exclusive sneak preview of couture fashion collaborations by commissioned designers including Viktor & Rolf, Alexander McQueen and Giles, as well as glittering jewelry displays of Atelier Swarovski, Runway Rocks, Swarovski Crystal Palace, Stage & Screen Collaborations and more. “Before I leave L.A., I have to see the Hollywood Museum for their great costume exhibition, and I want get up to the Hills to check out that view…oh, and stop by a local juice bar on Rodeo Drive, too! This lifestyle is such an inspiration,” she said wistfully.
Lady Victoria Hervey stopped by to show her support for the collection despite a pressing social calendar. “We’re off to the Chateau [Marmont] after this for another party, and tomorrow night, there are at least three more parties that I know of. I’m friends with the producer and director and writers of Slumdog Millionaire, so I’ve got high hopes for them on Sunday. But believe me, by Monday night, I’ll be hibernating somewhere!” she laughed. “I had to come tonight because I’m a bling girl! I like everything to be sparkly and glamorous and the Swarovski quality is just amazing. The Alexander McQueen dress absolutely blew me away.”
Despite a busy week dressing stars for the weekend’s festivities, designer Julia Clancey, bedecked in a sparkling mint-colored art deco-inspired frock of her own design, cheerily showed up to celebrate Swarovski properly. “I use a lot of Swarovski in my day-to-day business. Literally all of my jewelry and dresses are decked out in Swarovski crystals, so I had to be here tonight!” the designer raved. “What can I say? I like shiny things…and I can’t afford diamonds!”
