Carolina's Operatic Evening

Herrera to dress four City Opera singers for tonight's Theater Debut Celebration
Thursday, November 05, 2009

(NEW YORK) The New York City Opera's Theater Debut Celebration always promises to be a chic affair, but tonight, it's getting an extra dose of style power. Carolina Herrera will not only be attending the gala event at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater, but the designer will also be dressing the evening's co-chair, Julia Koch, and four of City Opera's Singers. Isaac Mizrahi, who fêted his new QVC show last night, will also support the City Opera with his attendance; Mizrahi has created costumes for the Opera in the past.

Naturally, the event will draw quite a fashionable crowd: Hamish Bowles, Amy Fine Collins, Tinsley and Dabney Mercer (hopefully sans film crews), S.I. Newhouse, Rachel Roy, Reshman Shetty, and a handful of European royals will come out for the New York cultural experience. The gala concert, American Voices, will feature classic opera and musical theater, a guest performance by New York City Ballet, and a concert by Rufus Wainwright--which will all be followed by dinner, live auction, and dancing (of the unprofessional sort). Call in the gowns!
