Reasons to Be Early: Edition Vuitton
(NEW YORK) When is it dangerous to pose for street-style paparazzi? Before the 2:30 Vuitton show, of course. Marc Jacobs is a time-sensitive fellow these days, and he started the LV show right on time (to the dot) which was problematic for a few A-list members of the press. Let's take Olivier Zahm. The Purple chicster arrived at the Louvre with two motorcycle helmets in his left hand, and his young daughter's main in the right. Wisely, he refrained from indulging the paps, but it was almost too late--the doors to the venue were closed and Zahm was forced to enter through the photo/video entrance in back. He pushed his way through the guards and ended up perching at the very edge of the runway, sitting on the stairs and snapping away.
"Punctuality is apparently the new black," Twittered Joe Zee, who arrived a minute late and was thus spared. Cindy Weber Cleary, Jessica Michault, and a slew of Aussies also made it just in time--2:32--to watch from the sidelines, but other eds weren't so lucky. The Marie Claire team of Nina Garcia, Zanna Roberts and Nina Sterghiou were stuck out in the courtyard when they arrived seconds too late, where they chatted up fellow shut-out Maryam Malakpour. Darlings, get thee to a laptop--the entire show was broadcast live on Facebook!
Meanwhile inside the venue, Antoine Arnault smiled grandly among starlets Leighton Meester, Freida Pinto, Katy Perry, Zoe Saldana, Daisy Lowe, Natalia Vodianova and Camilla Belle, while the collection unfolded against a wall of graphic stacked boxes (or something like that). Foxtails in bright shades of neon were dangling from many bags, and the Twitterverse erupted as everyone scrambled to get the first look. The place eventually cleared out by 4:00 p.m. as Jacobs quickly greeted well-wishers and then, as always, moved on to the next project. He wasn't the only one--the few American editors who remained (and we're not talking Anna Wintour, who left days ago) summoned their chauffeurs and headed to Roissy for the remaining Air France and Continental flights. Bon voyage!
