Elie and Rory Tahari host cocktail for the Winter Antiques Show at the Soho boutique
Wednesday, January 14, 2009

(NEW YORK) "Wait, wait--I'm going to strut!" Such were George Wayne's instructions to a camera-laden Billy Farrell as the former sashayed into Elie Tahari's West Broadway boutique last night. It was an apt means of entry to the packed space, where uptownies toasted the 55th Annual Winter Antiques Show's Young Collector's Night. Few, if any, confessed to be collecting much of anything this season, but regardless, spirits remained high. Champagne was an apt stimulant, fueling the likes of Rory and Elie Tahari as they gamely weaved around mannequins and store displays awash in shades of turquoise, coral, and bone. (This is resort, after all.) Dabney Mercer, Caragh Wilson and Dalia Oberlander and Jackie Astier mingled gamely, but several revelers lamented the imminent return of a full-fledged fashion season. "I can barely remember that break," one market editor said. "Are you sure it even happened?"
