New Year, Same Old Vous!

The Daily set dishes on New Year's Eves gone right and/or awry
Tuesday, January 06, 2009

(NEW YORK) It seems so long ago, doesn't it. But New Year's Eve (or NYE, an abbreviation we leaned recently from George Kolasa) was merely days ago, and given that some of you are prone to unadulterated revelry, well, The Daily was forced to investigate. Darlings: How ever did you occupy yourselves?--Ashley Baker

"Cozy and quiet, with close friends and family, in a small village in Wiltshire, in the South West of England."--Euan Rellie

"Daniel and I spent New Year's Eve in St. Barth's on our friend Ronald Perelman's amazing boat.* Ronald is the most incredible and charming host and the boat is beyond chic with a guest list comprised of the most glittering mix of movie stars, moguls, musicians and the just-plain-fabulous. For all the famous faces though, the party is very intimate and super low-key. At midnight, fireworks are launched in the harbor, high above the terracotta rooftops of Gustavia. It's the only place we ever want to be on New Year's Eve."--Andrew Saffir

*According to the folks over at Cityfile.com, the watery good times might be coming to a close.

"Stuffing my face with oyster po boys and bread pudding souffle in New Orleans. YIKES!"--Adam Shapiro, KCD

"New Year's at the Rock House in Jamaica with 20 great friends, laughing morning 'til midnight, jumping from cliffs into the clear blue Caribbean sea, staying in bungalows nestled into a garden of palms and sweet lillies.  Red Stripe on the beach. Candlelit dinner. A children's talent show.  Dancing. Fireworks. Starry sky and a sweet moon smiling down. It's going to be a good year..."--Nanette Lepore

"We all celebrated the turning of the year popping champagne and waving sparklers in the surf on the most gorgeous beach in Tulum, Mexico!"--Lisa Salzer, Lulu Frost

"I was in Hawaii and had the best NYE yet...7 of us girls (including Serena Merriman) rented a house near Kona and spent the evening at a local's house, BBQing, then we had a dance party under the stars and a late night bonfire on the beach! We were the last to celebrate since we are 5 hours behind."--Ashley Wick, Anya Hindmarch

"It was freezing cold in NYC...so I stayed at home, cozy and warm with family and friends drinking champagne and playing Tombola (a fun Italian board game that is traditionally played on New Year's Eve). I even made some money playing! Hope that's a good omen for the rest of 2009."--Giorgiana Magnolfi, IT Holding

"I was in a hot tub in Palm Springs with Humberto and Carol from Opening Ceremony!"--Brian Phillips, Black Frame
